What is the PEIC English certificate?
PEIC (Pearson English International Certificate) is an English proficiency qualification awarded by Pearson – one of the world's leading educational organizations from the UK.
The PEIC test has 6 levels (from Level A1 to Level 5), all designed to assess and accredit general English language ability and are aligned with the 6 levels of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). In 2024, the PEIC English certificate was recognized by Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) in Vietnam as equivalent to the 6-level Foreign Language Competency Framework used in Vietnam.
The PEIC test currently has 2 formats that candidates can choose from. The first format is a paper-based test with a fixed schedule of 6-7 times per year. The second format is a computer-based test which offers a more flexible schedule from Monday to Saturday morning, excluding holidays.

Unlike many other international English certificates, PEIC has 6 separate tests for 6 levels aligned with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) from A1 – C2.
In Vietnam, starting from 2024, students achieving the PEIC Level 2 certificate (equivalent to B1 of the CEFR) will be exempted from taking the English exam in the national high school graduation exam as per the regulations of MOET. Therefore, students can start to prepare for the PEIC even from middle school in order to obtain the PEIC Level 2 certificate by the time they graduate high school.

Not only is the PEIC Level 2 English certificate recognized by MOET, exempting students from the English exam in the national high school graduation exam, PEIC certificates are also widely recognised by many universities for purposes such as admission to undergraduate and postgraduate programs.
