To prepare for the implementation and improve the teaching quality of the ICDL Digital Student program at schools in the 2023–2024 academic year, EMG Education and ICDL Vietnam organized training sessions to enhance teaching methodologies for the program. These sessions were attended by teachers from primary, lower secondary, and upper secondary schools across districts in Ho Chi Minh City.
Compared to last year, the 2023–2024 academic year featured two separate training phases:
1. Phase One: For teachers at schools that will implement the ICDL Digital Student program for the first time in the upcoming academic year.
2. Phase Two (Advanced Training): For teachers at schools that already taught the ICDL Digital Student program in the previous academic year and will continue in the new academic year.

Since the 2021–2022 academic year, students at several schools in Ho Chi Minh City have been introduced to the ICDL Digital Student program. This is an international ICT program implemented in the city by EMG Education and the ICDL organization. The program is designed specifically for primary, lower secondary, and upper secondary students, focusing on three main areas of knowledge: Information & Communication Technology (ICT), Computer Science & Digital Literacy. The program aligns with the new Informatics curriculum framework of the Ministry of Education and Training (issued under Circular No. 32/2018/TT-BGDĐT) and the IT skill standards defined in Circular No. 03/2014/TT-BTTTT by the Ministry of Information and Communications.
At the end of each academic year, students have the opportunity to earn the ICDL Digital Student certificate. This internationally recognized certification is valid for life and is widely accepted in countries such as the United States, the United Kingdom, Italy, Ireland, Portugal, Singapore, Thailand, and many others. In the context of deep international integration and the rapid advancements of Industry 4.0, building a high-quality digital workforce capable of competing in the global labor market is crucial. Informatics education in Ho Chi Minh City and across Vietnam plays a pivotal role in equipping students with IT knowledge and application skills. The implementation of the ICDL Digital Student program in schools marks a significant step toward achieving Ho Chi Minh City's goal of becoming a smart city.
