The Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) now recognizes the PEIC Level 2 as one of five newly approved English certifications, allowing students to be exempt from the foreign language exam for high school graduation. This decision marks a significant step forward for English teaching and learning in Vietnam.
According to the MOET, starting this year, candidates can use the PEIC Level 2 certificate to be exempt from the graduation foreign language exam for high school graduation.
What is the PEIC Certificate?
The Pearson English International Certificate (PEIC – formerly known as PTE General) is an international English proficiency test assessing the four skills of Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing for practical purposes in life (study, work, and communication). The PEIC certificate is designed for a diverse range of candidates, including junior high school students, high school students, college and university students, and working professionals.
The PEIC certificates are awarded by Pearson Edexcel, the largest examining board in the UK, part of the world's leading education group, Pearson. PEIC is also accredited by the UK government's Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation (OFQUAL).
The PEIC test is divided into six levels corresponding to the six levels from A1 to C2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). The PEIC test levels have also been recognized by the Vietnamese Ministry of Education and Training under Decision No. 93/QD-BGDDT as equivalent to the levels of the 6-level Vietnamese Framework of Reference for Languages for use in admissions and training at all levels of higher education.

How to register for the PEIC test?
In Vietnam, the PEIC test is administered by EMG Education, a strategic partner of Pearson Education. EMG Education and Pearson have been approved by the MOET to jointly administer the PEIC test in Vietnam under Decision No. 868/QD-BGDDT dated March 22, 2023.
