Speaking at the award ceremony, Mr. David Albon, Director of International Programs at Pearson Education Group, stated:

"The success of Project 5695 is clearly demonstrated through the outstanding achievements of students in the Integrated English Program. Notably, these achievements have been increasing over time.

For example, in the International GCSE Mathematics exam, 75% of students in the Integrated English Program achieved scores of 7-9 (excellent level on the international grading scale) in 2019. The global average for this level in 2019 was 55%. By 2024, the percentage of Vietnamese students achieving excellent scores had risen to 84%, significantly higher than the global average of 54%.

Similarly, for the International GCSE Science exam, 32% of students in the Integrated English Program achieved excellent scores in 2019. By 2024, this figure had increased to 46%, compared to the global average of just 33%.

Most notably, in the International GCSE English as a Second Language exam, 54% of students in the Integrated English Program achieved excellent scores, significantly surpassing the global rate of 25%."

Mr. Albon emphasized:

"This is truly an outstanding achievement, especially when compared to students in prestigious international schools in countries such as Dubai and China. These schools have a strong team of native English-speaking teachers, a large number of international students from English-speaking countries, and full-time English programs.

Meanwhile, Vietnamese students study both the Integrated English Program and the national curriculum.

With Conclusion 91 from the Vietnamese Politburo, which aims to gradually establish English as a second language in schools, the Integrated English Program stands as a leading example of improving education quality in Vietnam."

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Nguyễn Văn Hiếu, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, stated:

"The Integrated English Program was approved by the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee under Project 5695, which integrates English and Vietnamese curricula for Mathematics, Science, and English.

Over the past 10 years, this program has been a breakthrough in enhancing English proficiency for students in Ho Chi Minh City.

Rather than simply teaching English as a foreign language, we incorporate it as a medium of instruction for Mathematics and Science, using a high-quality curriculum that integrates Vietnamese and British educational standards.

This allows students to benefit from the strengths of both systems, with internationally recognized certificates such as Pearson Edexcel."

Mr. Hiếu continued:

"Over time, we are pleased to see Vietnamese students increasingly demonstrating their academic abilities. The results of the Pearson Edexcel 2024 exams show that our students continue to achieve outstanding results compared to regional and global peers.

These results affirm the quality of the Integrated English Program and the correct direction of the city's education sector in improving English proficiency and subject learning through English."

Furthermore, Mr. Hiếu highlighted:

"Recently, the Politburo introduced Conclusion 91 and the Education Development Strategy 2030, Vision 2045. One of the key tasks outlined in Conclusion 91 is the gradual implementation of English as a second language in schools.

The success of the Integrated English Program over the past 10 years demonstrates the strategic vision of Ho Chi Minh City’s leadership.

Moreover, students' outstanding achievements in international certification exams provide strong evidence of the program's effectiveness. These results serve as the foundation for expanding the program and realizing Conclusion 91 to make English a second language in schools."

Strengthening teacher training and digital transformation

"Throughout the implementation of the Integrated English Program in Ho Chi Minh City, the guidance of authorities, the trust of parents, and the dedication of students have been our greatest motivation.

In the future, we aim to enhance international cooperation, continuously improve teacher training, and promote technological applications, innovation, and digital transformation in line with Resolution 57 of the Politburo.

We firmly believe that the program will continue to achieve even greater success, contributing positively to the implementation of Conclusion 91 and bringing tangible benefits to future generations of Vietnamese students."
