On September 4, 2025, EMG Education Group, in collaboration with the Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education (HCMUTE), organized a training session for the university’s English lecturers on the Pearson English International Certificate (PEIC). This event marks a new milestone in the partnership between the two institutions, aiming to broaden opportunities for HCMUTE students in particular and Vietnamese students in general to access a prestigious international English qualification.
During the session, lecturers and staff received detailed guidance and clarifications on all aspects of the PEIC exam, covering both paper-based and computer-based formats.

University lecturers review information about the PEIC exam
Since June 2025, the Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education (HCMUTE) has officially recognized the PEIC Level 2 Certificate, part of the international PEIC English certification system, as one of the university’s foreign language graduation requirements.
Earlier, on July 18, 2025, the university and EMG Education signed a cooperation agreement, marking another important step in their joint efforts to enhance students’ English proficiency.
The recent training session provided an opportunity for the university’s lecturers to gain a deeper understanding of the PEIC certificate, enabling them to communicate its value to students more effectively.

The event helps bring the PEIC exam closer to the university’s students
The Pearson English International Certificate (PEIC) consists of six levels, from A1 to Level 5, aligned with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), providing a comprehensive assessment of the four language skills — Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing — in real-life contexts. The qualification is widely recognized globally for academic, professional, and communication purposes. Currently, the exam is offered in both paper-based and computer-based formats.
In addition to its practicality and learner-centered approach, the PEIC is highly valued for its broad international recognition. According to Decision No. 93/QĐ-BGDĐT dated January 5, 2024, the Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam (MOET) has officially recognized the PEIC as equivalent to the levels of Vietnam’s 6-level Foreign Language Proficiency Framework.
Beyond HCMUTE, more than 80 universities nationwide have adopted the PEIC as part of their foreign language assessment systems, considering it a reliable benchmark for both entry and graduation requirements in undergraduate and postgraduate programs. This number is expected to continue rising as Vietnamese universities increasingly embrace internationally recognized certifications.
In Vietnam, the PEIC exam is organized by EMG Education, Pearson’s strategic partner, and has been officially approved by MOET under Decision No. 868/QĐ-BGDĐT (March 22, 2023) and Decision No. 2733/QĐ-BGDĐT (October 3, 2024).
