PEIC

PEIC (Pearson English International Certificate) is an English test designed to assess a general English language proficiency, especially for Lower Secondary, High School students, and young adults through 6 different levels. Designed and accredited by Pearson – the world’s largest learning company, PEIC is an excellent assessment solution of general English, with a wide variety of real life, communicative tasks.

  • PEIC is approved by Ho Chi Minh City’s Department of Education and Training (DOET) as the English proficiency assessment for Lower Secondary and High School.

Accurate & Consistent

The item types in each PEIC test are grouped together around topics referred to as themes. These themes are linked and expanded across levels, allowing students to get familiar with the PEIC test format and have a better understanding of their English proficiency as they progress through every level.

This is important because when communicating in English, students are often required to combine several language skills to perform a task, for example listening to information and writing about what is heard.

Test format
Question types

The Writing test consists of 9 questions types:

  • Graphical multiple choice
  • Dictation
  • Text, note completion
  • Fill in the blanks
  • Open-ended question
  • Write correspondence
  • Essay

The Speaking test consists of 3 – 4 item types:

  • Sustained monologe
  • Discussion
  • Picture description
  • Role play

SCORING & RESULT

Test papers are marked by qualified examiners assigned by Pearson:

  • All Writing papers are sent back to Pearson to be marked by Peason’s examiners.
  • All Speaking sessions are administered with qualified local interlocutors, recorded and sent to Pearson for marking.

The grades awarded for the test are DistinctionMerit or Pass. If test takers do not achieve a Pass grade, they receive a Certificate of Attendance.

Option 1: Schools in HCMC can send lists of candidates registered to the Department of Education and Training of each district to be submitted to:

✔️ Before the test date, every primary schools will receive the official dispatch and registration form from HCMC DOET.

✔️ The participants would register and pay the fees directly at schools.
